Welcome to Year 9 PDM

Moonrise, Smiths Lake. 2010 by Adam Craven
In the coming year we'll be learning not only how to take great pictures, but also how we can use photography to create great art! We'll be learning about different photographers from the past and present and how photography can assist you to become an artist yourself.
You will receive a PDM Workbook (a different one each term) and together with the Year 9 Weebly website, you will use this workbook to submit your assessment tasks and on going class activities tasks. You will therefore need to bring this work book to every class. You'll be assigned a Camera, a Canon 600D, and we will be learning how to use this camera properly in the coming weeks. Infact the first part of term one will focus mainly on the correct use of various manual functions of a DSLR camera. They'll be no 'point and shoot' or using the camera in Auto or Programme Mode this year!
Like most things in life there are a few house keeping issues we need to go through;
Take a look at the Unit Overview and the Assessment Task schedule below so as to get an idea of the year ahead. Before we start you'll be required to read over, sign and agree to the PDM Contract and this determines the conditions of working with this expensive new equipment. It's important to understand that if something gets broken through inappropriate use, then it will be replaced at the student's expense.
